Maxon, a manufacturer of powerful and user-friendly software solutions for creators in the fields of 2D and 3D design, motion graphics, visual effects, gaming, and more, has announced a strategic partnership with Tencent Cloud, integrating Tencent's HuanYuan 3D global artificial intelligence engine into Cinema 4D.
The collaboration, unveiled at the Mobile World Congress Barcelona 2026, introduces an AI-assisted workflow in Cinema 4D, enabling artists to generate basic 3D and UV models from text prompts or image references, and subsequently refine, sculpt, animate, and render using Maxon's professional tools.
Artificial intelligence as a creative accelerator
The hybrid 3D engine can assist artists in quickly initiating their creations and provide initial solutions for creative exploration. The generated resources can be fully customized in Cinema 4D and are compatible with the entire Maxon ecosystem of tools, including ZBrush, Redshift, and Red Giant series software.
"At Maxon, our mission has always been to empower artists," said David McGavran, CEO of Maxon. "This collaboration aims to provide creators with more tools, allowing them to move forward faster in their choices, especially during the early stages of ideation and prototyping. Artists retain full control over the final outcome. AI can assist in iteration and experimentation, but the creation and creative direction remain firmly in the hands of the creators."
This integration embodies Maxon's long-standing philosophy: to maintain creative freedom within the artist's environment. The use of Quadrino 3D integration in Cinema 4D is entirely optional; artists who prefer traditional modeling workflows can continue to work as usual.
Philip Losch, Chief Technology and AI Officer of MAXON, said, "Artists place great importance on authorship and originality - and so do we. Our approach focuses on responsibly integrating AI capabilities into our tools. We are not building an autonomous system capable of creating finished art. We are applying technology to accelerate certain steps in the broader creative process, which remains artist-led."
Expand creative possibilities across industries
Cinema 4D is widely used in film, broadcasting, motion graphics, advertising, product visualization, and game development. The addition of AI-assisted basic model generation provides new flexibility for creators who work within tight deadlines or explore multiple visual directions. After generating assets, they can be refined in ZBrush, mapped and adjusted for lighting in Cinema 4D, and rendered with Redshift, enabling artists to transform original concepts into complete, production-ready works with a unique signature style and feel.
This collaboration is built upon the long-term partnership between Maxon and Tencent, which includes Tencent's continuous use of Maxon technology in the game development process. This marks the first time Maxon has directly integrated Tencent Cloud AI technology into its own tools.
Usability of Chaos 3D in Cinema 4D
The Hybrid 3D integration is scheduled to be launched by the end of 2026. Further technical details and the go-live date will be announced prior to its release.
