In the OpenGL view of KeyShot, you can freely split surfaces, calculate vertex normals, and turn off open boundaries by simply clicking 'Edit Geometry' on the geometry view ribbon and selecting a component from the component list. You can also right-click on a component in the scene tree or real-time view and select 'Edit Geometry' to launch the Geometry View and Geometry Editor dialog box.

Split object surface

If you want to split specific polygons from a single component, use the "Split Object Surface" option, which helps you apply separate materials to a single component, or when the components are modeled together and you want to use them separately.

Split angle

Use the split angle to have KeyShot automatically determine the direction of the component you want to split based on the adjacent polygons at the angle. Polygons with one face at an angle smaller than the input value will be highlighted.

polygon

Use this to select a single polygon from the surface, and hold down the Ctrl key when clicking on the component to highlight the single polygon.

Show Wireframe

Enable displaying wireframes to show the wireframes of components.

Split All/Split Objects/Merge Selected Items

After selecting the polygons you want to split, click "Split All" to create components for each selected individual polygon, or click "Split Object" to group the selected polygons into separate components. If you want to merge some split components, hold down the Shift key, select the components that need to be merged, and then click "Merge Selected Items".

Split a single object

When individual objects of the model are grouped into a single component, use 'Split Individual Objects'.

EDIT NORMALS

The normal is the direction perpendicular to the surface of the mesh. In a 3D model, the normal direction should all face the same direction, otherwise holes may appear, and if your vertex normals are not consistent, flat points may also appear. If your model has holes or flat areas, it is recommended to use the "Edit Normals" tool to make the normals consistent.

Close Grid

If the polygon has a small hole, use 'Close Mesh' to fill the missing polygon. In the "Close Mesh" window, KeyShot will list the open edges of the selected component. You can select a single continuous pinhole and click "Close Selected Edges". KeyShot will create polygons to fill the pinhole. If the component has 2 small holes and you want to create a solid connection between them, select these 2 holes and click "Connect Selected Edges".
