Introduction
CloudCompare is a 3D point cloud (mesh) editing and processing software. Initially, it was designed to directly compare dense 3D point clouds. It relies on a specific octree structure and has excellent performance in tasks such as point cloud comparison. In addition, as most point clouds are collected by ground laser scanners, CloudCompare aims to process large-scale point clouds - typically over 10 million - on a standard laptop.
CloudCompare has many functions, such as:
·CloudCompare supports comparison between point clouds and triangular meshes.
·CloudCompare has the ability to automatically optimize UV mapping maps, making them smoother and more continuous.
·CloudCompare supports multiple common 3D model file formats, such as FBX, OBJ, Collada, etc., making it easy for users to import and export models.
·CloudCompare supports multiple plugins, such as Substance Painter, Marmoset, etc., making it easy for users to create materials and textures
