Supports GPT-4

The latest version of the ONLYOFFICE suite, ChatGPT plugin, is based on GPT-4. It is the latest multimodal model developed by OpenAI and has demonstrated human performance in various professional and academic scenarios.

Now, if your OpenAI account has a corresponding subscription, you can use the powerful features of GPT-4 to generate content, edit text, and handle creative and technical writing tasks. If not, the ONLYOFFICE plugin will use the GPT-3.5 model.

New Text Processing Functionality

In addition to existing features such as text and word analysis, translation, and content generation, the updated ChatGPT plugin also adds new options to help you process text more easily:

    Fix spelling&grammar correction
    Rewrite differently
    Make longer
    Make Shorter
    Make Simpler

Let's take a quick look at these features and see their effects in the ONLYOFFICE editor.

1. Correct spelling and grammar

As the name suggests, this feature is designed to quickly find and correct grammar and spelling errors in the selected text. When you select text and select Fix spelling&grammar, the ChatGPT plugin replaces it with new text that is grammatically correct and does not contain spelling errors. And ChatGPT only corrects errors and does not make any changes to the original text.

2. Rewrite in a different way

This feature can easily avoid plagiarism, as chatbots will replace synonyms, modify sentence structures, and add new phrases based on context to modify the original text.

3. Expand

The expansion function is the highlight of ChatGPT. When you select a piece of text, the chatbot will utilize all its creativity to make it longer, providing more additional and detailed information. In some cases, a short piece of text can turn into a complete story. For example, some of the ONLYOFFICE sentences we used in the previous examples now look like a short article.

4. Abbreviations

If ChatGPT generates too much text based on your prompts, or if you need to shorten certain content, this feature can come in handy. You just need to select the desired text and click on Make Shorter in the context menu. The chatbot generates and inserts a new text with fewer words than the original text, while retaining the main idea.

5. Simply write

You can use the Make Simpler feature to make the text easier for a wider audience to understand. After selecting this feature in the context menu, the chatbot will generate new text using more common words and structures, making it easier to understand.

How to install and configure the ChatGPT plugin

The ChatGPT plugin is not installed by default, so it needs to be installed through the "plugin manager" in the "plugins" tab. If you have already installed this plugin, you may need to click "Update" in the plugin manager to upgrade to the latest version.

After installing the plugin, click the icon on the "Plugins" tab to activate it. The plugin will run in the background.

Then you need to enter the API key, even if you don't have a paid subscription, you can register for an OpenAI account and generate the key. Therefore, please right-click and select ChatGPT ->Settings. Enter your API key and click Save.

The plugin is now ready, and you can use its features by right-clicking the mouse in the context menu.
