We have learned about Navicat Data Modeler 4 in our previous blog. It integrates multiple databases, models, charts, and other related objects through a single workspace. As we can see, this method allows users to illustrate different model objects in a single chart, as well as facilitate effective switching between models, cross model management, and sharing of model workspaces. Navicat for MySQL 17 has the same built-in functionality.

The model supports both "functions" and "procedures", which allows you to define processes and operations in advance during the modeling phase.

Data dictionary

The data dictionary has become an indispensable document for information systems and research projects. As the name suggests, a data dictionary contains the names, definitions, and attributes of data elements stored in a database. We learned about data dictionaries and Navicat 17's new data dictionary tool in a blog post about creating a data dictionary in Navicat 17. The data dictionary tool can be accessed from the model or Navicat main window, and it can guide you step by step to create highly professional documents.

Powerful data analysis

In the blog post Navicat 17 on May 7th, we learned about a brand new data analysis tool. With just one click of a button, it can provide a comprehensive visual view of data! You can find the "Data Analysis" tool in all enterprise versions of the Navicat database development and management tool, including Navicat for MySQL 17.

From the screenshot above, it can be seen that the data analysis tool provides a series of visual charts to represent the analysis results. These charts are a great way to analyze data types, formats, distributions, and information statistics in a dataset.

Table configuration file

In the blog post exploring table configuration files in Navicat 17, we discussed the new table configuration file feature that allows us to save different combinations of commonly used filters, sorting orders, and column displays in tables.

The function of saving table configuration files greatly saves time, as you can quickly switch between multiple configuration files without having to reconfigure the table every time you access it.

Improvement of Query Designer

You will be pleased to know that Navicat for MySQL query designer has several significant improvements. These improvements include

Fixed results: With just one click of a button, the query results can be saved for future reference!

Visual query interpretation: The query interpretation function has been improved by increasing the use of graphical representation.

Manage Connections: Manage multiple connection properties in one interface

Navicat for MySQL 17 provides the most direct boot connection process. It includes an advanced filtering and search function to help you quickly find specific server types. You can also organize your connections with stars, colors, and groups, or hide those that are rarely needed.

Other important improvements

Navicat URI: Server object URI can now be shared among team members to facilitate team collaboration.

BI: As described in the Navicat BI tutorial, all charts in the dashboard that use the same data source can now be linked to each other. Therefore, selecting any data point on one of the charts will immediately update all other charts on the same dashboard page that share the same data source to reflect your selection.
