In the field of data analysis, SPSS data sorting can be used to calculate the numerical values of student weighted grades, product sales quantity, labor piece rate cost, etc., and sort them according to certain standards. This article takes the implementation of SPSS data sorting and the maximum and minimum values of SPSS data sorting functions as examples to introduce the relevant knowledge of SPSS data sorting.

1、 How to Implement SPSS Data Sorting

If you want to compare and sort complex data numerically, you can choose the SPSS case sorting and variable sorting methods for operation. Case sorting refers to sorting based on the specific numerical situation of the case data, while variable sorting refers to sorting based on the name, type, width, decimal places, etc. in the SPSS variable settings.

1. A certain street office organized a sports activity with the theme of "Everyone Exercise, Healthy Everyone" in the Hehuayuan community, setting up amateur competition columns for long jump and fixed-point shooting, with fixed-point shooting being a fast shooting event at fixed points. After a three hour community residents' competition, the street office will sort the competition results of the residents of Hehuayuan.

2. In the case sorting interface, we put age into the sorting criteria. First, let's take a look at the highest age of the participants in the "Everyone Exercise, Healthy Everyone" sports event in Hehuayuan Community. Therefore, we choose a descending order to sort from high to low. The first row will display the participation information and related scores of the oldest participant.

Figure 2: Age descending order

3. Next, we will obtain the desired ranking order. The oldest participant is 74 years old, with competition number 20. The fixed-point shooting time is 13.7 seconds, and the standing long jump time is 158.6 centimeters.

4. In addition to directly using variable data as the basis for sorting, we can name, format, and select a save path for the sorted data file, such as a computer desktop or a specific function folder.

2、 SPSS data sorting function maximum and minimum values

By finding the key positions for sorting SPSS cases, selecting the numerical types for sorting, and confirming the way to save the sorted file, we can use SPSS data sorting function to obtain the maximum and minimum values. In addition, the sorting order determines whether we first see the maximum or minimum value. Ascending order displays the minimum value in the first row, while descending order displays the maximum value in the first row.

1. Taking fixed-point shooting time as an example, we will place the corresponding data into the sorting criteria box in the first row of the figure below, and determine the sorting order as ascending. This way, we can first see the shortest fixed-point shooting time in the sports activities of Hehuayuan Community.

2. Following the above steps, we can see that the best fixed-point shooting time in the Lotus Garden community is 8.7 seconds, and the winner of the best time is a 48 year old female resident with serial number 15, weighing 105.2 pounds.

3. Then put the weight into the content box of the sorting criteria, set the sorting order to descending, and see what the highest and lowest weight values are for participating in sports and entertainment events in the Lotus Garden community.

4. The reordered numerical results show that the maximum weight is 61.2 kilograms, belonging to female contestant number 19, and the minimum weight is 42.7 kilograms, belonging to male contestant number 18.
