In advanced mathematics, geometric symbols or special operation symbols are often used, but many users want to input these symbols when editing documents, but do not know how to type them out. Although there are many types of mathematical formula editing software on the market, the complexity of operation varies greatly, and the user experience varies greatly.

How to insert geometric symbols into MathType?

In mathematics and geometry, various geometric symbols are often used to express concepts. Below, we will share the method of inserting geometric symbols in MathType.

1. Open the MathType editor window and find the "Geometry" category in the symbol panel above. In the expanded symbol bar, we can see various commonly used geometric symbols in fields such as mathematics, physics, and engineering.

2. If you need to represent a right angle in the document, such as ∠ ABC equals 90 degrees, you can first click on the ∠ symbol in the geometry panel of the MathType toolbar, enter the letters of the three vertices of the angle (i.e. A, B, and C), then insert an equal sign (=), and finally enter the number 90 and degree symbol.

3. The line segment AB is parallel to the line segment CD. If you want to use symbols to represent it, you can first enter the letters A and B in the MathType editing panel, then find the "Parallel" symbol in the relationship symbols of geometric symbols, and then enter the letters C and D of the second line segment.

4. If it is necessary to explain the perpendicularity between two lines in mathematical expression, for example, line a and line b are perpendicular to each other, the vertical symbol ⊥ can be used to express it, as shown below.

How to insert special operators with MathType?

In the previous content, we introduced how to use the MathType template toolbar to insert geometric symbols. However, the MathType symbol library is far more than that. Below, we will introduce the operation method of inserting special operators in MathType.

1. Click on the 'Edit' option in the toolbar above, select the 'Insert Symbol' option in the expanded list, and open the Insert Symbol panel.

2. On the left side of the panel, select "Style" from the drop-down menu and choose "Symbol" from the style list. MathType will display all symbols under this category, and special symbols that cannot be found in the toolbar template can be found using this panel.

3. In addition, MathType allows users to search for the desired mathematical symbols through the symbol panel. Taking the integral symbol ∫ as an example, enter relevant keywords in the search bar of the symbol panel, and the MathType symbol panel will immediately display a list containing the integral symbol ∫ and other related mathematical symbols.

4. Select the appropriate symbol from the list and click on 'Insert' in the upper right corner to insert the integral symbol into the MathType editing panel. This operation method reduces the time spent searching for symbols and greatly improves the efficiency of editing work.
